The One For Me eBook Layla James
I couldn't put this book down. I read it in one sitting and I want more from Layla James. She wrote such a great story about teenage love and loss. The story follows Katy, who not only has to come to terms with her feelings about her parents divorce, but has to also deal with her growing feelings for Liam. What started out as a plan to dispell rumors, turned into more she bargained for. And when Hayden started to react in ways she didn't expect, new feeling start to show. She's trying to understand what's going on in her world when it all seems to be crumbling around her and has to learn and understand what truly matters. In the end, she comes to terms with what she feels towards her parents, and works to rebuild her relationships with them and Liam. Just when all seems lost to her, her happily ever after comes to help her fully heal. This was just such a well written book that any teen and young adult can relate to. I want to see what else Layla has in store for her next book and hope it's something just as amazing and feels worthy as this one.

The One For Me eBook Layla James Reviews
I was intrigued by the premise of this book and thought it would be really good. However, I could not even finish it. My main problem was the heroine. Katy was terribly whiny and weak. Some rumors about her started and she acted like it was the end of the world. Furthermore, the dialogue was awkward and stilted. Teenagers do not really talk like that. The author hardly used any contractions which added to the awkwardness. I also hated how Katy whispered everything. The author was constantly saying I whispered this, I whispered that. I have never whispered anything while having a normal conversation. It's weird. Bottom line if you like strong, independent heroines in your books, this is not the book for you.
I enjoyed this story. It was the sweet side of Liam that really grabbed my attention. The rebel with a heart who falls for the unexpected choice. Katy is the sweet unexpected choice. I loved their banter and how their feelings were expressed through the writing. I could feel as they their relationship was growing and how their feeling were beginning to develop. A cute, sweet and easy love story.
I'm a fan of those romances where boy and girl hate each other and grow to love each other.. none of that insta love crap here ;) anyways if your looking for a good pretty light read this is perfect
Liam oh Liam ...swoon.. <3
I don't really care about errors in words and such but there is quite a few so if you have issues with that it's in this forewarning
Would I reread this book - yes ma'am
Would I recommend it to others- oh heck yes )
So sit back and enjoy Liam and Katy <3
I was torn reading this book. I'm a YA fan and read a lot of book in this genre. I did finish the book and it wasn't a struggle, since it has a decent premise and an okay story line, but there were some things that kept jumping out at me that made me crazy.
I can overlook most grammatical errors in a freshman attempt at writing. But seriously, the "i done that" several times and all the "yelling" and "whispering" that is going on was grating. Do these people not ever talk in regular, normal every day voices?
Also, <spoiler alert here - although I promise it doesn't affect the plot line> what the heck is going on with his mother?? Does she or does she not have Muscular Dystrophy? If she left to spare Liam from dealing with it, why did she have another kid? If it's getting worse, how can she (in less than a week) move back from Florida to be near him? Ugh!!!
The whole "little bear" coming out of left field was kind of awkward as well.
The biggest thing that annoyed me, and I'm surprised that no one else has mentioned it, is all of the distasteful Asian references. I am by no means an overly politically correct person. In fact, I think the media is creating an overly politically sensitive environment by beating that drum repeatedly, but these references made me...uncomfortable. I guess the author thought it was okay to portray the Asian best friend by running right down the list of stereotypes and inserting them into the story up to and including the best friend making a joke about her "squinty eyes". Just FYI Ms. James, it is not okay and the story would have flowed much better without these needless references to her race. We get it, she is of Asian decent, no need to make every conversation with her about that.
All of that being said, I would be hesitant, but not totally against reading something else by this author as she is obviously still honing her craft.
This appears to be a first effort from a very young author - and it shows. The premise is good, if overdone (good girl matched up with bad boy in science class); however, the execution is wanting. There are way too many spelling errors for those of us who care. (When are all these e-book authors going to realise that spell-check does not an editor make?) As for the style of writing, it's probably better targeted to people under 13 years or those who wish they still were.
The heroine, Katy, flounces (yes, literally) her way through the novel - she slams down pens, yells out loud in class (sometimes even without any repercussion) and stomps her feet when things don't go her way. Frankly, she's having a bit of a bad time and she's not handling it particularly well.
The hero is not very well represented. He is sort of there, but mostly not. Consequently, it's hard to feel anything too much for him, though he does seem to get the best of the dialogue when he does manage some interaction; having said this, it's nowhere near as clever as some others have suggested. Speaking of which (pardon the pun), the dialogue is, as another reviewer noted, very stilted and quite unrealistic. Again, I believe this is the consequence of a very young writer.
Overall, it's not a shocking effort, but it really could be improved. Hopefully, the author will take time to perfect her craft (by starting with being way more careful with spelling and working on producing realistic dialogue), so that we will see better efforts from her in the future.
